Our Little Secret is part of Lohan’s two-picture deal with Netflix. The streamer is making a broader push in recent years into Christmas-themed rom-coms for subscribers looking to get into the holiday spirit. Herek’s relationship drama is now in production.
Lohan also headlined the Netflix holiday rom-com Falling for Christmas, in which the Mean Girls star played a spoiled hotel heiress who gets into a skiing accident, suffers amnesia and is cared for by handsome, blue-collar lodge owner.
The two-picture deal with Netflix marked Lohan’s full-fledged return to onscreen acting after several years of on-and-off roles, including the British TV comedy Sick Note and MTV reality show Lindsay Lohan’s Beach Club.
The Netflix deal also looks to put behind Lohan a career trough for the once-high flying Hollywood star who led films like Nancy Meyers’ 1998 remake of The Parent Trap and had her among the A-list with 2004’s Mean Girls, which was remade and is currently in theaters (and contains a Lohan line that the star did not appreciate).
Our Little Secret is produced by Mike Elliott and Lisa Gooding, with Joseph P. Genier executive producing.
