A pub belonging to Line of Duty actor Neil Morrissey was in hot water with its customers over the Christmas period.

Based in Stoke-on-Trent, the Plume of Feathers charged £90 per Christmas dinner for adults and £45 for children. Six courses were included in those prices, with duck liver pate, roast turkey breast, Christmas pudding ice cream and mince pies on the menu.

However, various TripAdvisor reviews suggest things were a little chaotic on the day, with extended waiting times being the main gripe.

"We were booked in at Plume of Feathers Barlaston for our Christmas Day dinner 2023 at 3.15, a table for 8 people at £90pp. 3.45 came and still not seated by which time we were getting annoyed especially having a pregnant lady and all getting rather hungry," began one angered customer.

"Finally after continuous complaining we were sat at our table and ordered drinks that arrived 20mins later but still no food, and so our pregnant lady had to order a bag Of CRISPS can you believe because she now was feeling hungry and sick. 4.30 arrived and finally our 1st course came and anyone who had soup had no side plates to butter their bread. Most staff went round with miserable faces, maybe with the stress of the day. I must say the whole experience was a COMPLETE SHAMBLES and anyone who had the same experience like us in the 2nd sitting of what should have been a special Christmas Day meal 2023 should be refunded for what turned out a complete Christmas Day MEAL ruined for us all. Hope Neil Morrissey reads this review and sorts it out. Very very disappointed."

A second person claimed their table was missing festive crackers, adding: "We waited 15 minutes for our drinks order and the service was very slow. The six-course menu was amazing. But we think the management got greedy and were trying to do too many covers in too little time to serve and satisfy the diners on a special day.

"We were paying £90-a-person and that's great if the service compliments the efforts of the kitchen. The Plume does not need to try hard because the chef is excellent. We would have been happy to pay the same amount for just three or four courses, including coffee, and we missed ours because of the time it took to get the others done."

They continued: "I hope next year they do fewer courses and let the Plume do the Plume and not bite off more than they can chew. Great kitchen, great service, fewer covers = happy customers who will be happy to pay £90pp if they are looked after."

In a statement obtained by StokeonTrentLive, a spokesperson addressed this online backlash.

"We are sorry that on this occasion we have had a couple of disappointed customers on what was a very busy day. We do take all feedback on board," it read.
