Lip reader explains what Prince George said to Kate Middleton inside Trooping the Colour carriage

A lip reader has explained what excited Prince George said to mum Kate Middleton inside the carriage as they arrived at Trooping the Colour. The Princess of Wales has made her first public appearance since she was diagnosed with cancer today.

Kate joined her children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis as well as working members of the Royal Family at the The King's Birthday Parade today. Lip reader Gaby Lane told The Sun Kate and William's eldest "looked so happy" as the family waved and smiled at fans during the procession.

She told George, Charlotte and Louis: "Right, look at that," before turning her head in unison with her kids. And then Louis told Camilla: "It’s brightening up." Kate said in a statement ahead of her appearance today: "I’m looking forward to attending The King’s Birthday Parade this weekend with my family and hope to join a few public engagements over the summer, but equally knowing I am not out of the woods yet."

“I am learning how to be patient, especially with uncertainty. Taking each day as it comes, listening to my body and allowing myself to take this much needed time to heal," said Kate, who married Prince William back in 2011.

The Princess of Wales said she was making “good progress” but “there are good days and bad days”. “On those bad days you feel weak, tired and you have to give in to your body resting. But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well.” She added that her treatment will continue “for a few more months”.

A Buckingham Palace spokesperson said: “His Majesty is delighted that the princess is able to attend tomorrow’s events and is much looking forward to all elements of the day.”
