List of MPs in 2019-2024 parliament not standing in General Election

Here is a list of the 131 people who were MPs in the 2019-2024 parliament who are not standing in the General Election on July 4.

The total has fallen in recent days, as several people who had previously indicated they would not be seeking re-election are now standing as a candidate in a different seat.

– These are:

– Stuart Andrew (formerly Conservative MP for Pudsey, now Conservative candidate for Daventry)
– Chris Clarkson (formerly Conservative MP for Heywood & Middleton, now Conservative candidate for Stratford-upon-Avon)
– Kieran Mullan (formerly Conservative MP for Crewe & Nantwich, now Conservative candidate for Bexhill & Battle)
– Douglas Ross (formerly Conservative MP for Moray, now Conservative candidate for Aberdeenshire North & Moray East)

In addition, Andy Carter, former Conservative MP for Warrington South, had previously indicated he would not be standing again in the constituency, but is now the Conservative candidate for the seat.

It means there are now 75 former Conservative MPs not standing at the election, which is still the highest number in modern political history, surpassing the previous post-war record of 72 Tories who stood down ahead of the 1997 election.

The record for the total number of former MPs standing down at an election is 149, which was set in 2010.

The deadline for the nomination of candidates for the General Election is 4pm on Friday June 7.

The list has been compiled by the PA news agency and is correct as of noon on June 6.
