Listed: Residents receiving King's Birthday Honours in Dorset

MULTIPLE Dorset residents have been honoured by His Royal Highness for their contributions to society.

The great and the good have been honoured in the King's Birthday Honours for making a substantial change where it was needed and developing innovative solutions that have had an immeasurable impact on the lives of thousands of people.

Sharon Wood, 62, from Bournemouth, is being honoured by the King for her services to trampoline gymnastics by being awarded a British Empire Medal (BEM).

She also worked as a volunteer and paid national coach, sharing her experience and knowledge with development athletes including Bryony Page, a two-time Olympic medallist and double Olympian, Kat Driscoll.

Former footballer and Poole resident Graeme Souness is being honoured with a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for his services to association football and to charity.

Meanwhile, Anthony Baverstock, from Gillingham, is being recognised with a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for his services to young people in Dorset.

David Corben, 73, has been awarded an MBE by His Royal Highness King Charles for his dedicated voluntary support to the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.

Speaking on the recognition, David said: “I was very humbled, but also very honoured that the RNLI should think I'm worthy of such recognition because I’m just a small cog in the big wheel."

Charlotte Pike, a food writer, cookery teacher and chef from Wimborne is awarded an MBE for her services to food writing and food education.

Geoffrey Haywood from Wimborne is a committee member for the Royal Marines Association in Poole.

He is being recognised for his voluntary services to veterans of the 47 Commando Association with a British Empire Medal (BEM).

Poole resident Frances Tomlinson-Mynors is being awarded for her parliamentary and political service as the organiser of the Conservative MPs wives, husbands and partners group. She is being given a British Empire Medal (BEM).

Robert Franks is being commended for his services to young people and the community in Poole by being awarded a British Empire Medal (BEM).
