There's nothing more frustrating than when a part of your car suddenly stops working.

Dealing with faulty wiper blades can be particularly aggravating, leaving your windscreen smeared with streaks. Typically, when this problem arises, many drivers end up shelling out for new blades and a costly service.

However, it turns out that you might not need to spend a fortune on car repairs after all. A TikTok user has shared a hack that could save you money, highlighting a little-known black button on your wiper blades that allows for easy DIY replacement.

In a recent video, the user @master_driver666, who previously shared tips for fixing broken mirror windows and getting rid of stubborn AC odours, explained how to change the blades yourself without incurring hefty service charges.

Speaking as she stands by her car, the woman said around a minute into the clip: "The wiper cannot clean the glass. Look at this black button. Hold it down firmly, pull out the wiper blade. Look the wiper blade is removed."

She then clipped the wiper blade back in whilst still holding down the same black button and just like that "the wiper blade is replaced".

Visiting a garage often means paying both for the parts and the service, which can add up to around £50 - some outlets even charge upwards of £8 just to fit the blades for you. However discovering a replacement and tackling the task at home is surprisingly straightforward.

And now, armed with your newfound knowledge, you could easily save some cash along the way.
