Little Mix's Perrie Edwards came close to 'quitting' group over major issue behind the scenes

Perrie Edwards has admitted she thought she'd have to 'quit' Little Mix at the early stages of the group's career, after struggling with the group's choreography.

South Shields singer Perrie was still just a teenager when she was put into a girl band by The X Factor judges, along with fellow South Shields hopeful Jade Thirlwall, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jesy Nelson. Mentored by Tulisa, they were put through to the live shows by the N-Dubz star, before going onto win and being the first group to land victory on the ITV talent show.

Their triumph lit the touch paper on what turned out to be a decade of hits, as singles like Wings, Black Magic and Sweet Melody all topped the charts. But now Perrie has revealed that things could have been very different and she might not have been around for any of Little Mix's success, as she broke down in tears at her failure to pick up dance moves in rehearsals.

After the release of her debut solo single Forget About Us, Perrie is a guest on this week's Jonathan Ross Show, along with other stars like Strictly pro Johannes Radebe. And, it was when she was asked if she'd ever go on the BBC dancing programme that Perrie opened up about her tearful struggles in the early days of Little Mix and how, at one point, she had a conversation about leaving the group.

She explained: "I think I’d be really scared. In the band at the very beginning, we went to rehearsals and I remember crying my eyes out and I went to my manager ‘I’m going to have to leave the band. I can’t really dance, I don’t want to dance.’

"I was just so terrified and uncomfortable dancing that I just didn’t want to do it - I just wanted to stand and sing.”
