Yahoo News Live-Action Dungeons & Dragons Series Scrapped at Paramount+ Amid Creative Differences
A live-action TV adaptation of Hasbro’s Dungeons & Dragons fantasy role-playing game has run out of hit points at Paramount+, which had given the project an eight-episode, straight-to-series order back in January 2023.
Sources tell TVLine that creative differences brought the series to a halt at Paramount+, and that after being redeveloped with a new creative team TBD, Hasbro plans to shop the series elsewhere.

Rawson Marshall Thurber (Netflix’s Red Notice) wrote the original TV pilot and was set to direct, with Drew Crevello (WeCrashed) serving as showrunner.
This would not have been the first time that Dungeons & Dragons made its way to the small screen. An animated series based on the franchise aired from 1983 to 1985 on CBS, totaling 27 episodes.
An poorly reviewed Dungeons & Dragons movie premiered in 2000 and spawned two little-known sequels. Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, starring Chris Pine and Michelle Rodriguez, hit theaters in March 2023 and wound up grossing $210 million worldwide, amid generally favorable reviews.
For the uninitiated, Dungeons & Dragons is a tabletop role-playing game in which players create their own characters and embark on a quest overseen by a chosen Dungeon Master. The game has been played on TV by many characters over the years, including the kids of Stranger Things and the study group from Community.
