'Leaked' images of Liverpool's potential new 2024/25 away kit could divide opinion among the fanbase due to the use of a certain colour on the sleeves.

Kit manufacturer Nike will obviously be restrained when designing the home kits for next season. If Liverpool were to stray away from the traditional red it would no doubt spark fury among supporters.

However, when it comes to the second strip, manufacturers are often given a bit more licence to make less traditional changes. According to Footy Headlines, the American sportswear brand have potentially taken that brief and run with it for next season's away strip.

New images leaked on their website show that the Reds will be departing from the green-and-white colour scheme which has served them well this season and replacing it with a prominently black shirt. It is unclear what colour the shorts or socks may be at this stage but the controversy could lie in the sleeves.

Nike appear to have chosen to add sky blue to the sleeves which would be an odd choice considering it is also the colour of one of Liverpool's main rivals - Manchester City. The rivalry between the two teams has grown over the past decade as City became challengers at the top end of the Premier League table.

Since the arrivals of Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola to their respective clubs, this rivalry has intensified further. Some have argued that Liverpool's main rivals are now City instead of Manchester United considering the latter's slump in form and weight has been added to this argument after the likes of Erling Haaland and Trent Alexander-Arnold sending shots at each other amid a tight title race this season.

However, should the 'leaked' image turn out to be genuine, it will not be the first time that the Reds have opted to use this particular colour scheme for an away kit. The suggested new second strip appears to use the same colours as Liverpool's 2019/20 third strip, which was manufactured by New Balance.
