The start of the summer transfer window is fast approaching for Liverpool and other Premier League clubs.

With Jurgen Klopp on the way out of Anfield, it remains to be seen which players incoming coach Arne Slot deems suitable for the future and surplus to requirements.

After missing out on the title this term, a few additions to the squad could see the Reds back up the top of the table and challenging for top spot once again in 2024/25.

Gabriel Jesus move urged

Former Liverpool right-back Glen Johnson believes Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus could represent a smart signing this summer.

Jesus has been battling various injuries this campaign, preventing the Gunners from seeing the best of the Brazilian, though Johnson is of the view the Reds could benefit from his services.

It has been reported in recent weeks Arsenal are open to selling the ex-Manchester City man, presenting a potential transfer deal.

“I would be surprised if Arsenal does actually want to sell him because I think that would be crazy. If he does become available, either Chelsea or Liverpool should bite Arsenal’s arm off," Johnson told Betfred.

“He’s not going to get you 25 goals a season, but he’s going to be a big part of the team and he works his socks off. In front of goal, he’s going to score a lot of goals at a club like that where he’ll get a lot of opportunities. Chelsea and Liverpool should absolutely jump at the chance.”

Koopmeiners update

Atalanta are allegedly holding out to see what offers arrive for midfielder Teun Koopmeiners amid reported interest from Liverpool and Juventus.

Koopmeiners, who has previously been mentioned as a possible recruit, was once the captain of an AZ Alkmaar side managed by Slot and could set up a reunion this summer.

An update from Italian journalist Emanuele Corazzi via TuttoJuve has made clear Atalanta are following a similar approach to the one used when they cashed in on Rasmus Hojlund last summer after receiving a huge bid from Manchester United.

Corazzi said: "Juve are interested but let’s wait, let’s see what offers arrive because many big English clubs, above all Liverpool, are so interested in Koopmeiners. Last year Hojlund had so many offers, Atalanta waited and then sold him to United for a huge sum. It’s a bit more difficult for Koopmeiners to go to Juventus should Liverpool come along.”

Bajcetic future

Slot is expected to make a decision on the future of Stefan Bajcetic during pre-season training, it has been suggested.

The Spanish midfielder has missed the vast majority of the current season due to injury, though made a welcome return to action in the Reds' 4-2 win over Tottenham Hotspur earlier this month.

Bajcetic, who is under contract until 2027, will now be looking to put his struggles of recent months behind him and make a mark under a new manager.

But Spanish outlet Sport via Sport Witness have claimed "everything will depend" on Slot and whether or not the teenager is able to impress the Dutchman.
