A Liverpool city centre road has been closed due to a concern for safety.

Police and firefighters are currently on Dale Street dealing with an ongoing incident.

Specialist negotiators are at the scene in Liverpool city centre after police received a call just before 11am about a concern for safety of a man.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "We can confirm that police and firefighters are currently dealing with a concern for safety of a man at a building in Liverpool city centre.

"We received a report of a concern for safety of the man at 10.59 am this morning (Sunday, 30 June).

"Specialist negotiators are at the scene.

"Dale Street has been closed in its entirety from the junction of North John Street and diversions have been put in place, whilst the incident is ongoing.

"We would like to thank pedestrians and motorists who may be affected by the closure for the patience and understanding at this time."
