Voters across the Liverpool City Region are choosing who they want to lead the area.

For just the third time, the region - made up of six local authorities Liverpool, Knowsley, Sefton, Halton, Wirral and St Helens - will choose its Metro Mayor.

The role is the highest political position in the city region and whoever wins the election will be handed powers over areas like transport, skills and economic development.

The region has had a Metro Mayor since 2017 when a landmark devolution deal came into play.

Labour's Steve Rotheram is hoping to continue in the role he has held since 2017, but he will face challenges from Conservative, Lib Dem and Green candidates in the shape of Jade Marsden, Rob McAllister Bell and Tom Crone.
