Liverpool boss Arne Slot will be hoping to formalise his transfer plans over the coming days following a fresh development.

The Reds have thus far endured a quiet opening to the summer trading period with minimal movement taking place in the first few weeks. Slot has now been in his new role as head coach for a month and it has merely been links to potential targets that have emerged.

The biggest transfer update for Liverpool involved Anthony Gordon over the weekend, with Newcastle making a shocking approach to Liverpool to sign the England international as they scrambled to make sales before the June 30 PSR deadline. The proposal, which included Jarrell Quansah, was turned down, though interest from Anfield in the 23-year-old remains.

At the opposite end of the pitch, Liverpool are keeping a close eye on the situation of Leny Yoro with Real Madrid leading the chase for the highly-rated Lille defender. The ECHO understands the Reds are of the belief the player favours a move to Real Madrid, with the Champions League holders having moved into pole position to sign the teenager.

Liverpool have also been linked with a number of central defenders in the past month, the latest being Crystal Palace's England international Marc Guehi and Bologna's Riccardo Calafiori. But as previously reported by the ECHO, the Reds believe they have sufficient options across a wide age range despite the loss of Joel Matip on a free transfer.

Calafiori's international teammate Federico Chiesa is another name that has been linked with a move to Anfield. According to a recent report, Liverpool are 'keeping an eye' on the player's contractual situation at Juventus.

Jamal Musiala is another who has been linked with Liverpool, and he is one of the favourites to be named player of the tournament at the Euros after scoring his third goal in Germany's 2-0 round of 16 victory over Denmark. The Reds have been linked with a stunning £100million transfer for the 21-year-old with his Bayern contract expiring in 2026.

While Tyler Morton is one player that has been linked to an overseas exit with RB Leipzig reportedly interested in the 21-year-old. The German club, according to The Times, want the deal to be a season-long loan with an option to make the move permanent.
