Liverpool have now been informed of what it may take to sign Lille defender Leny Yoro.

The Reds emerged as a contender to sign Yoro last month, with the 18-year-old widely regarded as one of the brightest centre-back prospects in Europe. Real Madrid and Manchester United have also been credited with an interest in signing Yoro, as the defender's future continues to be the subject of speculation.

The ECHO reported last month that Liverpool do have an interest in signing Yoro. However, it's understood that the teenager's preference would be to sign for Madrid, meaning the Reds are not frontrunners to get a deal over the line.

Now a fresh report has emerged stating that Yoro could still move to the Premier League. The Manchester Evening News have reported that United have had a bid for Yoro accepted by Lille.

The report states that the offer was between €60 million (£50 million) and €70 million (£59 million). Thanks to the report, Liverpool are now aware of what fee it would take to get Lille to be willing to let Yoro leave the club this summer.

It was also stated in the report that Madrid is still Yoro's preferred club to join this summer, which is a blow to both Liverpool and United. Yoro's current deal with Lille expires next year and the Ligue 1 club have already stated that the player is likely to be sold this summer in order to avoid losing the defender as a free agent.

Liverpool have been linked with signing a new centre-back ever since last summer. The emergence of Jarell Quansah as a first-team option last term helped former boss Jurgen Klopp significantly after the season-ending to Joel Matip.

Now that Matip has left the club permanently, rumours continue to swirl about the Reds potentially signing a new centre-back. Sepp van den Berg has also returned following a long spell at Mainz, so it remains to be seen if Liverpool believe it's necessary to go into the transfer market for further defensive reinforcements.
