With the summer transfer window set to open on Friday, Liverpool have been linked with a host of players in the last few weeks.

While some reports are merely speculation with no basis of truth, it remains to be seen which players are genuine targets for Arne Slot and Co. Nonetheless, it looks set to be a busy summer as Slot prepares for his first season in charge.

The ECHO has taken a look at some of the latest transfer speculation doing the rounds online and across social media.

Luis Diaz swap deal

Spanish source Diario Madridista suggest that Liverpool tried to offer Luis Diaz in a swap deal to sign Rodrygo from Real Madrid. The Reds have been credited with an interest in the Brazilian in recent weeks, but face competition from Manchester City for his services.

The report adds that the Spanish giants rejected an offer worth £101million (€120m) for the Brazil international. With that said, the arrival of Kylian Mbappe could see Rodrygo be limited to opportunities and therefore it is suggested that Madrid would be willing to offload the forward for a fee of £127m (€150m).

As for Diaz, the Reds are claimed to have slapped a £63m (€75m) price tag on the Colombian amid interest from Barcelona.

Ederson update

According to teamTALK, Liverpool have made an enquiry for Atalanta midfielder Ederson. The report states that Slot has already 'held a series of chats' with Reds CEO Michael Edwards and new sporting director Richard Hughes over their transfer priorities this summer.

The Dutchman is thought to want to sign a new number six following the exit of Fabinho last year. Though Wataru Endo is currently an option in that position, Slot is said to be thinking about a long-term option.

In addition to Ederson, Liverpool have also been linked with the likes of Morten Hjulmand and Joao Neves but their hefty release clause of £67m (€80m) and £101m (€120m) respectively is said to be a stumbling block. Ederson meanwhile has enjoyed a stellar campaign in his second season in Italy, earning his first call-up for Brazil.

Fabrizio Romano adds that contact was made with Ederson's agents, though no negotiations have started. Despite making an enquiry, 'no talks' are believed to be taking place at this stage and it remains to be seen whether Liverpool add the Brazilian to their shortlist.

The 24-year-old, who was recently asked about the Liverpool links, told AS: "My future? I don't know if I will stay in Italy. The focus is on Brazil. It always happens when the market opens that all the speculation comes. If an offer comes, Atalanta will decide. If something comes up about a transfer, the club has to accept it first, and that is the most important thing.

"I like Italy, I'm well adapted, but I'm curious about the Premier League, so I don't know. I'm still growing, so I don't know if I'll stay in Italy, I think I still have more to prove. If I go somewhere else, then too, I will continue to grow."

Atalanta are thought not to want to lose both Ederson and Teun Koopmeiners before the new season gets underway.
