Liverpool are now reportedly facing competition from Tottenham Hotspur to bring Brondby centre forward Yuito Suzuki in this summer.

The 22-year-old has been capped by the Japanese U23s and arrived at the Danish club last summer. However, in that time he has been showing signs of the potential he could reach in the future.

In 30 appearances, Suzuki has 11 goals and nine assists to his name and according to Bold.dk, Spurs were the latest team to send scouts to watch him in midweek. It is understood the Reds were in attendance for some of his matches in April while Manchester United, Manchester City, AC Milan, Ajax, Espanyol and Stuttgart all hold an interest in him too.

Discussing the type of player he could be for Liverpool, his manager Jesper Sorensen said: "Suzuki has some qualities that make him a player we don’t see very often in the Super League. We saw a lot of potential when he arrived.

"The investment we made in getting him well integrated is really well spent. He has an incredible technique and balance. He comes out of close pressing, even though he is hard-pressed… finishes equally well with both feet, even though he is right-footed."

Elsewhere Mainz are reportedly pressing hard to bring Liverpool defender Sepp van den Berg back to the Bundesliga next season. The centre-back has made 35 appearances this campaign and while his loan club are struggling, he has impressed.

According to TeamTalk, Van den Berg will be returning to Anfield in the summer and his future is unknown. However, the Reds have made it clear they will not be allowing their Dutch defender to join a second-tier club next season on loan.

Mainz know that they must beat Wolfsburg today to guarantee their Bundesliga status. If they lose and Union Berlin beat Freiburg, Van den Berg's team will face a relegation play-off against Dusseldorf.
