Livingston will rebuild their squad without experienced midfielder Andrew Shinnie, who is leaving at the end of his contract.

According to the Daily Record, the 34-year-old ends his three-year association with the West Lothian club, having signed from Charlton Athletic in 2021, as Livingston prepare for life in the Championship.

Shinnie’s departure follows James Penrice, who has agreed a pre-contract with Hearts, and striker Bruce Anderson, who is the target of a number of clubs, including Kilmarnock and Dundee.

Aberdeen-born Shinnie scored three times in 41 games for the Lions last season, and was one of the club’s more reliable performers in a season beset with injury problems.

But relegation is going to mean a huge budget cut, and boss David Martindale has already stated that stadium sponsorship from Bathgate firm Home of the Set Fare will go a long way towards offsetting that.

Shinnie started his senior career at Rangers, and had spells with Inverness and Hibs, while also turning out for Birmingham City, Luton Town and Charlton in England, so is unlikely to be short of offers.

Livingston, meanwhile, have agreed deals with five players, but boss Martindale reckons he’ll lose 50 per cent of his current squad.
