Once you've managed to find a place to park the car, Cafe Indulgence in Llandudno is a great place to enjoy a bite to eat. It's in Clonmel Street, a minute or so from the promenade and round the corner from the bustling thoroughfare of Mostyn Street.

I called in on Thursday for a quick lunch and it proved to be very convenient and pleasant. It has 359 "excellent" reviews out of 453 on Tripadvisor after all. It could be the perfect place to visit this Extravaganza weekend - although it will be extremely busy in town!

The meal was good and there was a remarkable number of quotations sprinkled over the walls to provide more than enough food for thought too. It was full downstairs, but I found a table on the first floor.

The hard working waiter Carl came up and took my order of Welsh Rarebit. I went for the poached egg too for an extra 50p. While I waited I read through Shakespeare's famous sonnet "Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?", on the nearby wall.

I was mulling over the beauty of the Bard's language as the cheese sauce on toasted bread arrived. While it didn't move me to poetry it was a lovely dish.

The cheesiness was subtle, the brown bloomer bread was soft and the salad was crunchy. A hot chocolate, which had cooled by the time I got to the end of the rarebit, was cocoa-y and satisfying.

Should I go for a dessert? Well, yes, I thought. I was in a place called Indulgence after all.

The cafe was busy so I popped downstairs and ordered a slice of homemade Victoria sponge cake at the counter. More quotations loomed into view as I returned to my seat.

As Carl huffed and puffed up the stairs with the cake, I asked him if he knew the quotations by heart. He freely admitted he didn't but the poor bloke seemed far too busy to memorise them.

"It's going to get even busier tomorrow," he muttered. "It's the Extravaganza."
