The top 100 restaurants across the UK have been revealed, including one near Coventry. The winners of the National Restaurant Awards have been announced in a shortlist online.

Grace & Savour in Hampton-in-Arden near Solihull, 20 minutes from Coventry came in at number 66. The restaurant is owned by head chef David Taylor and his wife Anette who oversees, where guests are taken on a tour of the gardens at Hampton Manor before being seated to a 15-course dinner.

They were awarded their Michelin Star in 2023 and ranked the number one place to eat in the UK by SquareMeal, with their tasting menu previously described as a "thing of beauty".

The Michelin Guide states the dishes as "eye-catching" and "elaborate" while some are "more defined" by the simplicity of the food. The guide adds: "A multi-course menu begins with some fine snacks before leading on to seasonal dishes that use top quality ingredients sourced from across the UK and are accompanied by low-intervention wines.

"The kitchen blends classical and modern Nordic cooking techniques, so some of the dishes are eye-catching and elaborate in their make-up, while others are more defined by their simplicity."

Grace & Savour is located within the 45-acre family-run Hampton Manor estate, built into the walls of a Victorian garden to give customers an "immersive" dining experience like no other. They commit to bio-diversity, soil health, ethics, and sustainability which underpins David's dishes, using various techniques from preserving to foraging.

The seasonal menu is served from an open kitchen, where chefs use an array of ingredients preserved from the land from picked magnolia, camomile, apple kombucha, and jars full of carrot nectar. On the open fire, diners will see signature dishes such as grass-fed brisket smoked over pine or wild boar and from small day boats, buttery monkfish or creel-caught red prawns will be served.

All the ingredients in the walled garden are grown with organic methods, with the team also working with biodynamic, organic, and regenerative farms to ensure top-quality ingredients are used in the dishes.

Grace & Savour has a 4.5-star rating on Tripadvisor, with other ratings including food (4.5/5), service (5/5), value (4/5) and atmosphere (4/5). The eatery also has a 4.8-star rating on Google reviews.

Many praised the restaurant for its ethos, saying some dishes 'set your taste buds alight' with the farm-to-table ethos is a 'step in the right direction'.

Monnie Beresford said: "Words cannot describe how delicious this tasting menu was. I have had a few in my time and this was by far the best I have eaten. The atmosphere is relaxed, inviting and exciting. 15 courses didn't feel like 15 courses as the kitchen and waiting staff worked like a well-oiled machine and you weren't left waiting in between each course for ages."

Another said: "Our fourth trip to Grace and Savour and it did not disappoint. I recommend booking seats at the bar/chef's table, where you can see just how much effort goes into each course. The wine flight was the best I’ve had anywhere and an improvement on our previous visit. Great service, remarkable food and a refreshingly relaxed atmosphere."

Vicky O added: "Amazingly, stunning setting for a 15-course tasting menu. The walled gardens are tranquil and beautiful. It was a privilege to be able to sit and watch the brilliantly talented chefs at work. All staff made us feel extremely welcome and were very knowledgeable about all the food and drink we were being served. There is a big emphasis on locally sourced produce which is great. It was a novel experience to be presented with the menu after the meal."

The seasonal tasting menu is available Wednesday to Saturday for £145 on Wednesday, and £165 on the other days. Lunch is available on Saturdays for £90pp.
