Locals Begin Clean-Up of East Mosul After IS Retreat

Young residents of Mosul have launched a campaign called Make It More Beautiful in an effort to clean up the parts of the city reclaimed from Islamic State.

The campaigners painted over IS propaganda graffiti, cleaned the streets of newly liberated areas, and filled in bomb craters.

The first speaker in this video, from a local news outlet, is described as the campaign leader. He says that they are in Muthanna neighborhood, in east Mosul, and that there are about 150 volunteers. The second speaker says that the campaign is independent, and doesn’t belong to any party. Credit: YouTube/Al-Mawsleya via Storyful
