People are furious over delays to Coventry bin collections. Coventry City Council has felt the full force of local anger after posting on its Facebook page to ask for patience.

It is the third time this month people have been asked to leave their blue-lidded and brown-lidded bins out if missed. And some people have had enough.

On Friday, May 17, the council posted to advise locals what to do if their blue-lidded bin was missed. They should leave them out today, Saturday, May 18, and crews 'will be back to collect it'.

That came after the council said posted on Facebook on Thursday, May 9 to say that 'high volumes of garden waste' were the reason bin crews were running behind. And on Sunday, May 12, the council said that crews would be out to 'clear the backlog' so if the collection was missed, locals were advised to leave their bins out on Monday, May 13.

That has happened at around the time Coventry City Council announced it will start charging £40 a year in June for the collection of brown-lidded bins. The move sparked fury among readers as being a 'terrible idea' because 'we pay enough as it is'.

Now locals have hit out at the latest delays in bin collections on their very own Facebook page. Gaynor Edwards said: "Reported a missed rubbish bin yesterday, still not emptied today, and you want us to pay extra when you can't empty the bins when you are supposed to."

Others echoed this. Judy Parker said: "They emptied my brown bin today and left half of it still in there and I'm supposed to start paying for this service."

Julie Wilson says her brown bin still hasn't been emptied from a fortnight ago: "Two weeks ago my brown bin was missed, this week my blue bins were missed. Reported. Still not emptied."

Mel Robertson said: "Emptied my blue bin, left it halfway up the road as usual but left a flattened box that was in-between mine and my neighbour's bins." Katie Devonish added: "Wexford Road is scheduled for a Wednesday, missed half of the street's blue bins this week and still not been emptied."

Many other comments were posted - some far harsher. The city council has not responded to any of the comments - we have approached them to see if they would like to say anything.
