Surprise! Locals wake up to thousands of tiny toy eggs washed ashore on German island
Locals on a North Sea German island woke up to a colourful surprise after thousands of toy eggs washed ashore.
Beachgoers on the North Sea island of Langeoog woke up to find the beach carpeted with the tiny toys after several containers of them washed up along several miles of the shore.
It’s thought the eggs, which reportedly contain instructions written in the Cyrillic alphabet, may have been knocked from a cargo ship and washed ashore during a storm that hit the island earlier this week.
Children and adults alike were eager to get their hands on the treats, and police joked that Easter had arrived early in Langeoog.

But the eggs were without their chocolate coating – possibly disappointing for some.
It didn’t take long for a clean-up operation to be organised to avoid any danger to local wildlife, with authorities offering bags for people to help collect up the eggs and locals pictured on the beach helping with the clear up.
