London lido named 'one of UK's best' to host free pool party and diving sessions

Nestled in the corner of Brockwell Park, Brockwell Lido is a favourite of South Londoners. The much-loved local landmark, with its 50m outdoor swimming pool, has been at the heart of the community since 1937.

It's also recently been named as one of the 20 best lidos and outdoor pools in the UK by The Telegraph. And to celebrate its 87th anniversary, Brockwell Lido is throwing a free 'birthday bash' this weekend.

The event will run tomorrow (July 6), with activities taking place throughout the day. There'll be something for everyone to enjoy, including a pool party with inflatables and lessons to learn how to dive.

As well as marking the special occasion, the celebrations will support the Norwood and Brixton Foodbank. All proceeds from the day will be donated to the charity.

Highlights of the day include water zorbing - a large inflatable plastic ball that allows you to walk, run, and even jump on the surface of the water. A Brockwell Lido regular is also to set to bring her swing band to perform live, and Streamline Swims will be hosting 'Dive in Five' sessions teaching people how to execute the perfect dive with expert tips and guidance.
