London travel news LIVE: Stansted Airport travel chaos as do not travel warning issued on trains from Liverpool Street

Holiday goers are being warned to not travel by train to Stansted Airport as a fallen tree has damaged overhead wires.

Trains are unable to run between Broxbourne and Bishops Stortford, Stansted Airport and Cambridge due to the issue, hitting some services from London Liverpool Street.

Meanwhile the Tube network has been struck by delays across the capital - the Central, Northern, Piccadilly and District lines.

Trains were brought to a standstill between Liverpool Street and Enfield Town / Cheshunt / Chingford while TfL deals with an obstruction on the over head wires at Walthamstow Central.

Reports of slow traffic on M25

There is heavy traffic on the M25 anticlockwise from J29 A127 (Romford / Basildon) to J28 A12 (Brentwood / Brook Street Roundabout), according to Inrix.

It also reports slow traffic due to crash on the shoulder of the M25 clockwise before J15 M4.

Severe delays across District Line due to derailed train

Transport for London has warned there are severe delays on the District Line while they deal with a derailment of an empty train.

Tickets are being accepted on London Buses, DLR, South Western Railway and C2C.

Lines blocked between Clapham Junction and London Victoria during rush hour

Commuters are facing 30 minute delays at rush hour as some lines are blocked between Clapham Junction and London Victoria.

Disruption is expected until midday on the Gatwick Express between Brighton and Victoria as well as on a range of Southern services.

Exit shut on the M25 after collision between car and motorbike

An exit has been shut on the M25 in Essex after a collision involving a car and a motorbike.

The anti-clockwise exit for junction 30 (Mardyke) is closed due to the police incident.

There is no access to the A13 westbound for M25 clockwise traffic or for A13 westbound traffic to continue on the A13 westbound.

The anti-clockwise distributor road between J31 and J30 is also closed.

National Highways has warned the closures are likely to be in place throughout the morning.

Exit on M25 reopens following crash

An exit has reopened on the M25 in Essex after a collision involving a car and a motorbike.

The anti-clockwise exit for junction 30 (Mardyke) was closed on Monday morning due to the police incident.

Three people killed in car crash at Staples Corner

Three people have been killed and one person is critically injured after a car crash.

Police were called at 11.26pm on Sunday to reports of a road traffic incident involving a car with five men believed to be in their early 20s inside at Staples Corner retail park.

Sadly three people were pronounced dead at the scene. Two other people were taken to hospital.

One is in a critical condition while the other person’s condition has been assessed as not life-threatening.

Severe delays on three Tube lines

There are currently severe delays on three Tube lines while trains are unable to run between Arnos Grove and Cockfosters on the Piccadilly Line but to a signal failure.

A signal failure is causing severe delays between Stonebridge Park and Harrow and Wealdstone on the Bakerloo Line.

There are further severe delays on the Central Line between Woodford and Hainault while Transport for London fix a faulty train.

Meanwhile long delays remain on the District Line after an empty train derailed.

Trains unable to run on the London Overground

There is no service on the London Overground between Stratford and Richmond as well as to Clapham Junction.

The issue is being caused by an obstruction on the overhead electric wires at Willesden Junction, Transport for London has said.

Trains unable to run on the Circle Line

Long delays near Brent Cross following fatal crash

There are long delays near Brent Cross as police investigate a car crash that killed three young men.

Five people, all believed to be in their 20's, were in the vehicle when the car ploughed into trees in the incident on Sunday evening.

The A5 at the roundabout underneath Staples Corner (West) remains closed and there are long delays in the area.

Congestion has built up to the M1 back to Junction 2 (Fiveways Corner), and diverting down the A1 and A41 through Hendon.

The A406 queues from Neasden to Brent Cross.

There is still no access onto the A5 southbound or North Circular westbound from Staples Corner.

Delays on the Elizabeth Line

There are 15 minute delays on the Elizabeth Line between Whitechapel and Shenfield due to an obstruction on the track at Maryland.

National Rail has warned that disruption is expected until 1pm.

Northern Line severely delayed

There are widespread delays on the Tube with severe delays across large parts of the network.

Major disruption between Liverpool Street and Stansted Airport

There is major disruption to routes between Liverpool Street and Stansted Airport due to a fallen tree on overheard electric wires near Roydon.

CrossCountry between Birmingham New Street and Stansted Airport as well as Stansted Express services between Liverpool Street and the service have been impacted.

Greater Anglia services to stations such as Cambridge North and Stratford have also been hit.

Disruption is expected until further notice.

  • Trespasser between Rochester and Gillingham - All trains are now on the move, although it will take some time for the service to recover back to it's advertised timetable

  • Tree on the line between Charlton and London Bridge, diverting between the two stations.

With a crane, two snow ploughs, a pair of track inspection velocipedes, historic steam locomotives, numerous freight wagons and even a tracked Bren Gun Carrier, the lineup is sure to include something to complete every train set. When added to the vehicles already at Locomotion, there will be 99 rail vehicles - creating the largest undercover display of historic rail vehicles in Europe. New Hall will celebrate the museum’s 20th anniversary in September this year. The museum is also built close to the site of Shildon Works – once home to a thriving railway workshop, employing thousands, which closed in June 1984. To mark this important link, the new building and the vehicle display will recognise the important role of railways in shaping communities in Shildon and across the North East, as well as the development of the railways across the UK. The interpretation will also tell new stories of the significance of coal in the development of the railways along with related stories of industry and freight transportation. Sarah Price, Head of Locomotion, said: “I would like to thank all our partners involved in creating the magnificent New Hall, especially Nationwide Engineering and Durham County Council. New Hall effectively doubles the size of Locomotion and gives us much needed covered display space to help conserve the collection, as well as giving visitors the chance to find out more about the railways and the North East’s railway heritage.
