Yahoo News London's best places for shopping in 2024 as 7 of top 25 in England are in our city
The top 25 places to shop in England have been named and seven of them are in London. The city is a prime shopping destination but the list doesn't include some of the places you might expect like Oxford Street and Covent Garden.
The list was curated based on a number of factors by Newmark Vitality Rankings which essentially measure the health of retail in the area at the time. It takes into account things like the amount of shop floorspace under redevelopment, market size, quality of retail offer and vacancy rate i,e how many shops are empty.
Covid and the massive change in buying habits caused by it have left a lasting effect on the UK's high-street retail industry. This is reflected by huge surges in positioning on this list for several areas - one of which is Chelsea which went up 123 places in this list since 2022.

However, some places stayed steady like the top London shopping destination on the list which is Wimbledon Village which comes in at number 3 in England, as it did in 2022.

Wimbledon Village - 3rd (was 3rd in 2022)
Sloane Street - 4th (was 107th in 2022)
Kingston Upon Thames - 5th (was 4th in 2022)
Knightsbridge - 6th (was 102nd in 2022)
Westfield Stratford City - 7th (was 85th in 2022)
Chelsea- 10th (was 133rd in 2022)
Chiswick - 21st (was 22nd in 2022)
The best place to shop in England was Cambridge City Centre according to Newmark after having been 36th in 2022. The second was Cobham which used to be 16th.
