Longlevens Junior School complete memorable double with Wembley win

Longlevens Junior School are celebrating a Wembley triumph to round off their magnificent year.

Representing Cheltenham Town, coach Matt Jeynes' side defeated St. Giles & St. George's Academy, who were representing Port Vale, 3-1 under the famous arch ahead of Saturday's League One play-off final between Oxford United and Bolton Wanderers.

Their goals came from Oscar Cunningham, Owen Wood and Oscar Webb, with Matt Bogg pulling one back for Vale in the final moments.

The Utilita Kids Cup victory came 24 hours after they won the Pokémon Primary Schools' Cup final at Derby County's Pride Park.

Longlevens teacher Jeynes, who has led the school's football teams since 2007, was extremely proud of this year's achievements, after they were triumphant in every competition they entered.

"It's been a fabulous weekend that has given all Involved memories to last a lifetime," Jeynes said.

"Players, families and school staff, I couldn’t be prouder.

"To play every competition in the country and to win them all without losing a single game, I am not sure you can beat it!"

The squad was made up of Alex, Will, Oscar C, Oscar W, Dontaye, Charlie, La’Vai, Noel, Owen and Jacob.
