An 182-year-old Hampshire firm has been crowned 'Employer of the Year' at a national awards ceremony.

Elliotts Builders Merchant was acknowledged at the annual Solent 250 Business Awards on Tuesday, June 18.

Chief Executive Officer of Elliotts, Tom Elliott, said: "I'm really proud and humbled to have won Employer of the Year.

"It all comes down to how we look after our team because they are core to our success."

Employing over 300 people across their 13 Hampshire branches, Elliotts provides benefits such as access to GPs, mental health support, and enhanced maternity and paternity leave.

Mr Elliot said: "We've chosen to do things that feel right and are genuinely valued by the team rather than follow a formula or a tick-box exercise."

Richard Cartwright, from the University of Southampton Business School, said: "Elliotts Builders Merchant has established itself not only as a successful business but as a pioneering employer that prioritises the empowerment, development, and wellbeing of its staff."
