Lorraine Kelly has been hit with more than 300 complaints after being accused of “body-shaming” Nigel Farage.

The presenter took a swipe at the former Ukip leader on her ITV talk show, saying “you get the face you deserve” as she talked about his I’m A Celebrity stint, and Ofcom has confirmed that the episode triggered 354 complaints.

Kelly made the comments on her show on the 21 November episode during a discussion about Farage and the fact he bared his bottom by going nude in the jungle shower.

The star was talking to former MP Edwina Currie, who was suggesting that Farage was hoping the show would “enhance his reputation”.

“He's only 59, he's got plenty of years ahead of him,” Currie said.

Kelly, 64, looked shocked to hear his age, replying: “God is he? Is he only 59?”

"I thought he was a hell of a lot older than that,” she said.

“That is astonishing. You get the face you deserve, thankfully. You really do.”

Kelly's remarks sparked backlash

Kelly’s comments sparked a backlash on social media, with viewers accusing her of being “unprofessional” and “body-shaming” Farage.

“Thought what you said about Nigel Farage body-shaming him on live TV was unprofessional and insultingly mean and derogatory,” one viewer said on X.

Another remarked: “Imagine any man body-shaming a woman live on TV. He’d be cancelled. It’s ok for women to do it, so it seems.”

Ofcom has now confirmed to Yahoo that it received 354 complaints about the episode, and that they related to Kelly's comment.

What did Farage’s camp say?

While Farage is tucked away in the Australian jungle, he has people running his social media accounts.

And they hit out after Kelly’s words, posting on X: “Has @lorraine apologised for body shaming Nigel Farage yet?

“Imagine if he made those comments about her on live TV... The media would cancel him!"

How did viewers respond to Farage's naked jungle shower?

Another side to the story was of course the viewers who were complaining about seeing Farage's bare bottom on TV.

Among the sea of comments, viewers wrote: "Totally didn't need to see Nigel Farage's bum on national TV."

Another added: "Wasn't expecting to be facing Nigel Farage's cheeks as I sat down with a cuppa."

"I can't believe I've just seen Nigel Farage's a**."

Many viewers have even boycotted the show over Farage's reported £1.5m signing to I'm A Celebrity, with viewing figures seeing a drastic drop from last year.

After Farage was announced on the show, there was only a peak audience of 7.8 million watching the launch compared to last year’s opening show hooking as many as 10 million viewers.

Yahoo has contacted ITV and a representative for Kelly for comment.
