Lorraine Kelly has revealed her daughter Rosie is expecting a baby girl.

The 64-year-old TV star gushed she "can't wait" to become a grandmother as she joked that her beloved dachshund Ruby is set to become a "big sister".

hinted that her beloved dachshund Ruby is set to become a "big sister", suggesting that Rosie is expecting a girl.

The baby is believed to be due in September and the entire family are overjoyed, reports the Mirror.

Unable to hide her excitement, Lorraine shared: "This is the most exciting thing to happen to our family, well, since Rosie was born. Last night, I felt the baby kick for the first time, which was extraordinary. It made it feel real."

Rosie - born in 1994 - is the only child of Lorraine and her cameraman husband Steve Smith.

The soon-to-be 30-year-old discovered she was pregnant on New Year's Eve, humorously noting it was "right after buying loads of alcohol and a cold meat platter, which I then couldn't touch".

She recently moved in with her partner Steve and purchased their first home in Islington, North London.

The pair are eagerly anticipating the next chapter of their lives, with Rosie confessing they "both wanted to become parents young so that our parents can be around as much as possible."

The baby's name is likely to have a Scottish influence, paying homage to Rosie's heritage.

In an exclusive heart-to-heart with HELLO! magazine, Lorraine Kelly couldn't hide her joy as she recounted the moment she learned of her daughter Rosie's pregnancy earlier this year.

"I thought she was looking a wee bit peaky, but I had no idea it was that, so it was the best possible surprise. Of course, I cried when I found out and Rosie's dad Steve is thrilled to bits too."

While Lorraine has always dreamed of becoming a grandparent, she emphasised that she "never wanted to put Rosie under any pressure".

Now, with the arrival of her grandchild just around the corner, she admits she "couldn't be more excited" and embraces the title of 'Granny' wholeheartedly.

She declared: "I'm very happy with being called Granny. I know some people don't like that, but I think it's a badge of honour."

As she anticipates her new role, Lorraine amusingly disclosed her real name, causing quite a stir among fans.

The celebrated daytime TV presenter, recently honoured with a BAFTA Special Award, will be known as 'Granny Smith', sharing a name with the well-known apple variety - since Smith is her married surname.

With a chuckle, she said: "I'm actually going to be Granny Smith!"

Speaking to Bella Magazine, Lorraine expressed her determination not to overstep boundaries, saying she'll try not to "interfere too much" or become "too much of a nuisance".

However, she also mentioned the strong connection she shares with Rosie, confident that their tight-knit relationship means they can easily communicate if things ever feel overwhelming.

She expressed: "I've just said to Rosie, 'I'm here for you, anything you need.' She's good though, we've got that kind of relationship that if I was annoying her, she would just say 'Enough, go home'."

Lorraine further added that her daughter is "going to be the best mum" and stated: "She's much more grown-up than I am."
