Lorraine Kelly couldn’t resist taking a swipe at Matt Hancock while discussing the former Health Secretary’s recent tell-all interview.

During Tuesday’s instalment of her ITV show, the 62-year-old make a subtle dig about Hancock’s appearance in the clip which saw him speak about falling for advisor Gina Coladangelo.

Commenting on his interview with Dragon’s Den star Steven Bartlett, Kelly took a jibe at his choice to sport a black polo neck top as she stated: “I don’t know what he’s come as. He looks like a Bond villain or a pound shop Milk Tray man.”

The Milk Tray Man was an advertising campaign that saw a black-clad James Bond-type figure surreptitiously delivering chocolates to women.

Hancock was forced to resign last year after leaked CCTV showed him in a clinch with Coladangelo in his Whitehall office.

The footage, which was taken in May 2021, led to immediate fallout due to the fact his actions took place at a time when social distancing was being promoted and indoor social gatherings of people from different households were banned.

During the podcast interview with Bartlett, Hancock opened up about his resignation and attempted to explain why he broke covid guidelines.

He said: “I broke the social distancing guidelines. By then they weren’t actually rules, they weren’t the law. But, that’s not the point.

“The point is they were the guidelines that I’d been proposing… That happened because I fell in love with somebody.

Hancock continued: "We fell in love and that's something that was completely outside of my control. Of course I regret the pain that's caused and the very, very public nature - anybody who has been through this knows how difficult it is, how painful it is."

Kelly shared her thoughts about his interview with viewers as she quipped: “Matt Hancock – remember him? The former health secretary [was] talking about his resignation last year…

“You remember. He was caught on CCTV groping his advisor. His new partner Gina was also spotted at the recording of that podcast.

She then added: “So, he fell in love! Well, lots of people who were in love weren’t able to see each other during that time, were they?”
