Lorraine Kelly has shared her delight as she told her fans and followers that her beloved mum was on the mend after a 'tough few weeks'. It comes after the presenter's recent weekly absences, usually on a Friday, from her self-titled ITV show have been creating a stir online.

Since the start of the year, a tongue-in-cheek X, formerly known as Twitter, account has emerged tracking when she is and isn't hosting her programme and is replaced, usually by Ranvir Singh and Christine Lampard.

Named ‘Where is Lorraine?’, the social media profile posts every day whether or not the TV star is hosting Lorraine, which airs weekdays every weekday from 9am before This Morning. But there's also a 'Bonus Lorraine' theme if the 64-year-old is seen on other programmes.

However, Lorraine previously spoke out about her reason for not always being present. Taking to X, Lorraine wrote at the end of January: "Morning and huge thanks to the wonderful @clbleakley for stepping in on Fridays so I can get back home." Lorraine, who lives in Glasgow, then added: "Great to see mum doing really well and I appreciate your kind messages."

Back in September, Lorraine revealed on her show that her mum, Anne, had "not been very well at all". And now, Lorraine has opened up in a brief message shared on social media.

Posting a picture of her mum, Anne could be seen out and about as she smiled for the camera with a glass of wine in her hand. Lorraine then said: "This is not a drill. Mammy is back on the randan. A tough few weeks but she’s doing so much better," alongside a red heart emoji.

Lorraine stylist Mark Heyes was among the first to respond, writing: "Excellent news!! Go Anne. Big hugs my darling," while Good Morning Britain's Richard Arnold and broadcaster Gaby Roslin left red love hearts under the post.

Meanwhile, Lorraine's fans and followers were also keen to show their support. @lindaamos55 said: "How lovely Lorraine,,, my Mum is 92 and feel so Blessed still to have her xx Hope your lovely Mum continues to improve." @janhamnett wrote: "Aw your lovely Mum, so glad she is improving!"

@helenhandmakeup replied: "Sending you all my love Anne, you look great!!! Big hugs." @glamma_helen commented: "So good to hear ! She’s in training for being a great gran now!" @gardnerfiona shared: "She looks great! Bet she's excited to be a Great Granny." @annethomas1958 added: "So glad to hear Lorraine. Mammy’s are so special. My mam passed 4 years ago and miss her every day."

It comes after Lorraine revealed she was set to become a grandmother for the first time as her daughter Rosie announced she was pregnant. Reacting to the news earlier this month, Lorraine, 63, shared Rosie's baby scan photo as she excitedly said: "THE most exciting thing to have ever happened in our family! Cannot wait to be a granny and so proud of Rosie and her Steve. It's the best news EVER!"
