“What a total arse, doing that to Britney,” she went on. “I mean, really? When he was married to her for about a minute-and-a-half."
Viewers were stunned by the 62-year-old’s comment, with many posting messages on Twitter saying it made them laugh.
“Lorraine said ARSE!!” said one viewer.
“Love the fact Lorraine Kelly said arse live on TV, love her,” posted one person.
Another tweeted: “In stitches at Lorraine calling him an arse.”
“And there it is!” said another.
“The reason we all love @reallorraine @lorraine when she comments on Britney’s 90 second ex gate-crashing her wedding.”
However, others suggested it wasn’t appropriate.
“Did she just swear on live TV?” one viewer asked.
“She called Britney Spears’ first husband an arse, unacceptable for someone supposed to be a role model.”
Someone else tweeted: “Lorraine saying arse at 9:02 am. Who does she think she is? Disgusting behaviour!”
Spears married Alexander at a chapel in Las Vegas in 2004 but the marriage was annulled 55 hours later.
According to reports he was charged with four offences after showing up at the singer’s LA home as she got ready for her wedding - two counts of misdemeanour battery, one count of misdemeanour vandalism and one count of misdemeanour trespassing.
