Lorraine Kelly reacted to the news of Prince Harry listing his primary residence as the US on the latest episode of her ITV show.

During Thursday's instalment of Lorraine, the Scots presenter said: “Prince Harry making a lot of the front pages this morning after officially registering himself as an American resident. Well, that’s where he lives!”

The Duke of Sussex relocated to the US with his wife Meghan Markle four years ago when they made the decision to quit the Royal Family for a new life in California.

Speaking to royal editor Russell Myers, Lorraine highlighted that people are accusing him of cutting ties with the UK but he does live in America as she appeared confused by the uproar.

Lorraine added: “It’s where his wife lives and I think the youngest baby was born there.”

Weighing in with his thoughts, Russell said it’s been an interesting few days for the Sussexes, the Express reports.

He said: “Never a dull moment, first we had Meghan launching her jam range during the week and then we had Harry back to work as it were, on a Zoom call for his company Travalyst, a sustainable travel company he’s set up in 2019.

“But, overnight we’ve realised that he has changed the details on his company house profile to change his residency from the UK to the US.”

Myers then went on to explain to Lorraine why this move has been so significant as he highlighted the date of the change.

He continued: “The date of the 29th of June (2023) where he says he took up residency in the US is when he was pretty much asked to leave his Frogmore Cottage house along with Meghan and the family.

“Is this the clearest indication that Harry won’t be coming back to the UK in any form? Very interesting situation.”

Lorraine agreed as she questioned whether or not Harry is able to have dual citizenship instead of just having one.

She asked: “Would the kids have that? I don’t really know how it works.”

Russell replied: “Well he might well do because he was discussing on an American chat show recently about how he’s considered taking citizenship.

“He said he’s very happy in the States, why wouldn't he be? Beautiful weather in California, Meghan’s businesses are hopefully going from strength to strength and we’ve got Harry working with Netflix and his travel company.

“So, listen, I think we might see him back in the future but never say never.”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex currently reside in their Montecito mansion in California with their two kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

The former royal couple shocked the world when they were announced they were stepping down from their royal duties and leaving the UK four years ago.

Since their departure in 2020, they have rarely returned for visits with Meghan not making a trip back to Britain since September 2022 for the late Queen Elizabeth II's funeral.

Meanwhile, Harry recently returned to visit his sick father King Charles after the news of his cancer diagnosis broke and is set to make another trip to the UK next month for the Invictus Games' 10 years anniversary.

Lorraine continues weekdays on ITV from 6am.
