Who is Louis Jackson? Manchester United youngster hoping for debut vs Sheffield United

Louis Jackson is in Manchester United's squad for the clash with Sheffield United.

The young centre-back could profit from a clutch of injuries in defence with United short of senior options in the backline. Harry Maguire is the only fit senior defender.

Raphael Varane (muscular), Victor Lindelof (hamstring), Lisandro Martinez (calf), Jonny Evans (knock), Luke Shaw (hamstring) and Tyrell Malacia (knee) are all out. Willy Kambwala is also absent.

It could open the door for Jackson, who turned 18 earlier this season. During his young career so far, the teenager has plenty of Premier League 2 experience and, aged 15, broke the record for being the club's youngster ever Under-23s player. He hails from Trafford but represents Scotland Under-17s at international level.

The youngster has been able to lean on the current crop at United for advice. Uploading several images onto his Instagram profile, Jackson was spotted training with the first team before their Carabao Cup tie with Palace and got yet another chance to impress Erik ten Hag up close.

In the pictures, Jackson was seen working with Harry Maguire, Mason Mount and Christian Eriksen - among others - as he continues his development in the club's famed academy.

But will the defender feature in a senior matchday squad for the first time on Wednesday night? Here, we take a closer look at Jackson in profile.
