Louis Smith Still Talks To Ex Lucy Mecklenburgh: ‘Time Heals All Wounds’

Olympic gymnast Louis Smith has opened up about his split from former TOWIE star Lucy Mecklenburgh, revealing that whilst it was a difficult decision, ‘if it’s not right, it’s not right’.

The couple sadly split in February after dating for 14 months.

At the time, it was claimed that Louis’ refusal to settle down was the reason behind the split, though he later denied this to his followers on Twitter.

Speaking about their split, Louis has now told OK! magazine: “I could have stayed with Lucy but the longer I left it, the more attached she would feel and the more damage it would have done in the future.

“It was hard, but if it’s not right, it’s not right and I wanted to make the decision to end it sooner rather than later.”

He added that the pair still talk, explaining: “Time definitely heals all wounds so we chat now and again. I’d say we’re borderline friends, which is nice and what I always wanted.”

Looking to the future, the Olympian is in no rush for anything serious yet, but is hoping to settle down in the future, revealing: “I’m happy focusing on my gym now but I’d love to settle down one day.

“When I get married, I only want to do it once and want to spend the rest of my life with that woman. I can’t wait to have kids and be the father that my dad was to me.”
