As if Love Island's Samira Mighty and Frankie Foster couldn't get any cuter, the couple have now officially become girlfriend and boyfriend.

Appearing on Aftersun tonight (July 15), Samira told host Caroline Flack that she feels she absolutely made the right decision in choosing to leave the villa after Frankie was dumped.

"I definitely think I made the right choice. I was just miserable in there!" she said.

Frankie admitted that he didn't find out that Samira had left until his friends texted him with the news, saying that "it certified how she felt".

"I was panicking," he said. "I'm at home watching it thinking, 'I really want to speak to her'. When I got the text I was like 'Yes!'"

Despite the occasional fights between the ladies on the show – Ellie and Georgia-gate, anyone? – Samira said she got on with all the girls.

"All the girls are like my fave," she said. "I was never really in arguments so I was always trying to give advice and get everyone to come together."

But one moment that did divide viewers over Samira was the time when Megan Barton Hanson told her she was planning to make a move on Wes Nelson. Later, Wes's dumped partner Laura Anderson cried on Samira's shoulder – and Samira said she'd had no idea it was coming.

So what did Samira have to say for herself?

"It was actually so hard," Samira said. "I didn't feel like it was my time to go to Laura. I had no idea (Megan) was going to do that.

"It wasn't my place to say and they're both my really good friends. It was so hard being on the outside looking into the drama."

Just before the interview wrapped, Caroline prompted Frankie by saying that he had a question to ask Samira.

Turning to Samira, Frankie said: "I don't just want you to be my couple on Love Island, I want you to be my girlfriend."

A delighted Samira agreed to go official, before Frankie produced a huge bunch of flowers for her.

Viewers were delighted by the romantic gesture:

The couple effect has certainly been strong this year, with no less than four couples making it official in the villa and Adam Collard and Zara McDermott getting together after they'd left.

Love Island continues on Monday (July 16) at 9pm on ITV2.
