Love Island viewers confused about Maya Jama's three minute chat
Kaz Kamwi was the latest contestant to be dumped from the villa
What did you miss?
Love Island viewers were confused as Maya Jama didn't enter the villa for the latest instalment of the dating show even though she was in South Africa.
The TV star was on hand to chat to Kaz Kamwi as she became the latest contestant to be dumped from the All Stars series of the show on Tuesday, 6 February. However, Kamwi was told she was leaving in a text message – not in person – and she met Jama after leaving.
The move had several fans asking why Jama didn’t go in to the ITV villa but just sat down for a few minutes of chat.
What, how and why?
The episode saw Kamwi getting her marching orders in a text message after she was left single in the recoupling. Jama wasn’t there to preside over the tense segment, but sat down to talk to Kamwi about her Love Island experience after she left alone.
During the chat, Kaz reflected on crossing paths with her ex Tyler Cruickshank in the Love Island villa. She told the TV host: "I genuinely did not think Tyler would walk through the doors at all. At all!"
She added: "I think we fell back into old ways, we got comfortable and then I thought 'we were having separate journeys and I wanted to respect that. I thought we left it on a nice note."
Despite their candid chat, fans at home were distracted by something else entirely. Their interview only ran for a few minutes, leaving fans wondering why that's all the TV star filmed. Some took to X to share their thoughts, with one person asking: “If Maya is just there why she not running the recoupling?”
“So Maya was there but they let her be dumped by text,” said another. “Can't believe they flew in Maya Jama to South Africa for that one minute segment, could have done a Google meet,” said someone else. However, the presenter is actually based in South Africa for the show's run.
“Would love to know how much Maya Jama is getting paid for her minimal appearances,” remarked another fan of the programme. “We need more of her on our screens.”
What else did Love Island fans say?
Fans were also "gutted" that Kamwi's stint in the villa had ended without her finding love, with many saying she had been among their favourite islanders.
One posted: "So sad that Kaz has gone and really can’t understand why no guy has snapped her up in there! She is gorgeous, intelligent, funny and a lovely person. A true queen." Another said they were "absolutely devastated" that she was gone.
"We all knew it was coming, but I am gutted!" agreed someone else. "Kaz has my heart, she is such a pure soul."
Yahoo has contacted ITV for comment.
