'Love Island' star Amy Hart shows rom com king Richard Curtis what Love Actually is

Former Love Island contestant Amy Hart has revealed that Love Actually director Richard Curtis and Britain’s Got Talent judge David Walliams have sent her supportive messages since quitting the show.

Hart left the ITV dating show heartbroken after witnessing her ex-half-boyfriend Curtis Pritchard have his head turned by other girls in the villa. He’s now currently coupled up with Irish ring girl Maura Higgins.

However, it hasn’t taken Hart long to land on her feet since leaving the villa, having already landed herself a gig as a regular guest panellist on Loose Women. And apparently she’s also been receiving supportive messages from a number of famous faces.

In an interview with Grazia, the former air hostess revealed that Richard Curtis –director of Love Actually, Notting Hill, Bridget Jones’s Diary and Four Weddings And A Funeral – contacted her friend, Derry Girls actress Nicola Coughlan, and said Hart made him believe in a popular saying about love.

Hart said: “Nicola said that Richard Curtis had texted her, saying, ‘I never believed in the saying it’s better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all, until I watched Amy leave Love Island’.

“The king of romantic comedy! I made him believe in love.”

The Grazia interview also claims that David Walliams ‘slid into Hart’s DMs’. And, according to The Mirror, his message was “kind and supportive”, after she was left humiliated by her turn on the dating show.

The Mirror also claimed that Hart used to have a “weird crush” on the BGT judge, but that she’d ‘never go there’.

On her decision to leave Love Island, Hart said: “When I was having my worst week, I told the psych I felt like I didn’t want to be there any more and she said, ‘Well, you don’t have to be here’.

“At that point, I was still in the mindset of I didn’t want to waste that opportunity where 130,000 people had applied — how stupid would I be to give it up? I gave up my job to go on the show.”
