ITV has decided not to air tonight's episode of Love Island: Unseen Bits following the news that former host Caroline Flack has died.

The broadcaster opted to reschedule programming on Saturday February 15 after the 40-year-old's family tragically confirmed that she had been found dead in her East London flat earlier that same day.

Instead, a double bill of home video comedy series You've Been Framed is being shown from 9pm to 10pm "in light of the sad news," the continuity announcer explained.

Following the news of Flack's death, a spokesperson from ITV told Digital Spy: "Everybody at Love Island and ITV is shocked and saddened by this desperately sad news.

"Caroline was a much-loved member of the Love Island team and our sincere thoughts and condolences are with her family and friends."

Since Flack's passing was announced, many people have taken to social media to draw attention to late contestants Mike Thalassitis and Sophie Gradon, as well as call for the popular dating show - which now airs twice annually - to be axed for good.

Among them is This Morning's Eamonn Holmes, who asked on social media: "Out of respect, can the series continue?"

Digital Spy has reached out to ITV for comment.

Love Island airs on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays at 9pm on ITV2.
