Love Island USA contestant leaves show after learning of his sister's death

A contestant on Love Island USA has left the show after being told by producers that his sister had passed away.

Reality contestant Josh Goldstein, 24, and his partner Shannon St. Clair were woken up by producers in the night and told that Josh's sister Lindsey had died.

The couple, who were tipped to win the dating show, left the following day with Goldstein telling his fellow contestants:"I just wanna tell you guys that me and Shannon are going home today. My sister passed away last night.

"I just want to let you guys know that I’m so grateful to have met all of you."

The show shared a message of support for the couple on Twitter.

St. Clair, who had partnered with baseball player Goldstein, decided to leave with Goldstein to support him.

Goldstein shared that his sister, who had died unexpectedly, had inspired him to sign up for the show, calling her 'an unbelievable person'.

Love Island USA airs on CBS and Paramount+ in North America.
