Love Island's Maya Jama shuts down viewer criticism of her appearance

Love Island: All Stars host Maya Jama has hit back at a viewer's public comment about her appearance in last night's episode (February 12).

The presenter made an appearance in last night's show, interviewing the latest islanders to be dumped from the villa.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, one viewer publicly criticised Maya's appearance, questioning whether she had adequate time to do her hair or if her wet hair was deliberately styled.

The tweet was later acknowledged by the ITV presenter, with Maya shutting down the viewer's take.

"I’ve been very polite on public opinions on my looks but Casey, it’s called a wet look.. not sure why that’s a surprising look for you but if you don’t know then it’s on you babe," she wrote.

Maya opted for a strapless leather-look midi dress for her Love Island outfit, complementing her wet-look hair.

The presenter sat down with newly dumped contestants Eve Gale and Casey O'Gorman, whose exit was decided by their fellow islanders, occurring mere days after they'd entered the villa.

Earlier in the episode, viewers saw the two have a tense exchange, with Eve pulling Casey for a chat after learning that he had been questioning his spark with her with other islanders.

In their sit down chat, the pair reflected on their connection in the villa, with Casey admitting: "I just didn't have that spark yet and that was it."

Nevertheless, Eve responded: "I'm still happy that I picked Casey as I can't see myself with anyone else in there."

Eve and Casey were one of three couples highlighted at risk of being dumped, alongside Toby and Georgia S and Sophie and Joshua. The latter four now remain in the villa.

Love Island: All Stars airs at 9pm on ITV2, ITVX & STV.
