Luke Wilson and Greg Kinnear Lead an Inspiring Youth Baseball Team in “You Gotta Believe ”Trailer“ ”(Exclusive)

'You Gotta Believe' captures the story of the 2002 Fort Worth, Texas Little League baseball team that competed at that year's Little League World Series

Luke Wilson and Greg Kinnear are revisiting the 2002 Little League World Series in their latest film.

On June 25, Well Go USA Entertainment debuted the trailer for You Gotta Believe exclusively with PEOPLE. The film stars Wilson, 52, and Kinnear, 61, as Bobby Ratlliff and Jon Kelly, a pair of Little League baseball coaches tasked with taking a roster from Fort Worth, Texas to the annual Little League World Series.

When Wilson's character Bobby suddenly falls ill, his son and teammates on the youth baseball team rally around him and find themselves competing among the best in the country in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, at the annual tournament.

Patrick Renna (The Sandlot) also makes an appearance in the trailer as a manager who tasks Jon and Bobby with running the team.

The movie is based on the real-life 2002 youth baseball team that competed in that year's Little League World Series.

Their hard-fought, 11-inning game ranks among the longest in the tournament's history, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. As that outlet noted in a 2023 article about the film's production, Ratliff, whom Wilson portrays in the film, died from cancer in 2003.

Etienne Kellici, Molly Parker, Michael Cash, Sarah Gadon and Lew Temple also star in the film from director Ty Roberts (12 Mighty Orphans).

Wilson and child actor Kellici, who portrays one of the young baseball players in You Gotta Believe, can also be seen in Kevin Costner's upcoming multi-part film Horizon: An American Saga.

You Gotta Believe is in theaters Aug. 30.
