Luther: Idris Elba To Reunite With Ruth Wilson For Sport Relief

Good news for Luther fans: the hit BBC drama will be back on your screens sooner than you think.

Idris Elba will return for a one-off sketch in aid of Sport Relief this March and that’s not all, as he’ll be reuniting with Ruth Wilson, who played the deranged Alice Morgan in the first three series.

Unfortunately, Ruth couldn’t be part of the two-part miniseries that made up series four and she was replaced by Game of Thrones’ Rose Leslie.

As well as an appearance from the Golden Globe Award-winning actress, Luther will come across many familiar faces as he patrols the streets of London on his latest case.

Other celebs taking part in the sketch include Lenny Henry, Rio Ferdinand, David Haye, Denise Lewis, Cecilia Noble, Louis Smith and Ian Wright.

In addition to Luther, the BBC has announced a whole host of programming for Sport Relief, which returns on 18 March and will be hosted by Claudia Winkleman, John Bishop, Gary Lineker and David Walliams.

The Great Sport Relief Bake Off is also back on the air with contestants including Kimberley Walsh, Samantha Cameron and Ed Balls. Mel Giedroyc will host with a slew of guest presenters including Jennifer Saunders.

BBC Two will air Let’s Play Darts for Sport Relief, hosted by Gabby Logan. This year’s contestants include comedy stars Greg Davies, Jon Richardson, Katherine Ryan and Tim Vine, and sporting stars Mike Tindall and Robbie Savage.

And in a poignant documentary titled Famous, Rich & Homeless, four celebrities will learn what it’s to sleep rough on the streets of London. Nick Hancock, Julia Bradbury, Kim Woodburn and Willie Thorne will take part.
