Liverpool will be keeping tabs on Euro 2024 and the Copa America as Arne Slot looks to bolster his squad this summer. The Reds continue to be linked with some big names this, but they're still yet to welcome any new faces to Anfield.

Last year, Liverpool forked out almost £200m on four new midfielders. With Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, Naby Keita and James Milner out the door, as well as Thiago Alcantara more recently, the Reds remain relatively light on options in the middle of park.

As for Slot's backline, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold face somewhat uncertain futures with both their contracts expiring in June 2025. So, with that being said, the Echo has rounded up the latest Reds news and transfer gossip.

Geertruida 'very interested'

Arne Slot has been dealt a major blow to his hopes of reuniting with Lutsharel Geertruida at Liverpool. The Feyenoord defender has been linked with a move to Anfield this summer, but the Reds face tough competition for his signature.

According to French outlet Foot Mercato, as quoted by GFFN, Paris Saint-Germain have made Geertruida an offer. The report states that the 23-year-old would be 'very interested' in a move to Les Parc des Princes but he won't make a decision on his future until after Euro 2024.

Foot Mercato add that there's been no contact between Feyenoord and PSG. It's said that Geertruida, who sees his contract at De Kuip expire next year, has been identified by Luis Enrique as somebody who could further bolster the Parisians' backline.

The ECHO says: "Lutsharel Geertruida could be an excellent signing for Liverpool, so if Arne Slot does want to be reunited with him then Richard Hughes will need to move quickly to beat PSG to the Dutchman's signature."

Robertson drops retirement hint

Andy Robertson suggested that he may retire from international football following Scotland's exit from Euro 2024. Speaking to the BBC, the Liverpool defender said: "There's nothing really to say to be honest. We gave it everything.

"We knew we had to win this game, both teams had to win and they've hit us on the counter-attack. We’ve had our chances and I think it could have gone either way, but that's football - that's how it goes. It will take a long time to get over this one…

"We did go for it, but we got sucker-punched. A draw wasn't going to be enough realistically. Both teams had to go for it and unfortunately one of us had to lose."

Robertson added: "With international football, sometimes you lose players and things like that. We’ll see what happens with that. Tonight is devastating, there’s no buttering it up. All the lads are absolutely gutted. It’s up to us to pick them up, but that only happens slowly but surely."

The ECHO says:: "Andy Robertson will be 32 by the time the 2026 World Cup comes about. If Scotland qualify for the tournament, that could be the Liverpool defender's final rodeo for his country should he stay on until then."
