A collection of designer stainless steel radiators worth nearly a third of a million pounds are set to be auctioned off in North Lincolnshire next week.

It follows the collapse of Cheshire-based SBH Radiators. The company, which prided itself on being 'The Home of Beautiful Handmade Radiators', produced a range of modern designs that could fetch up to £1,200 for a single unit.

A total of 500 radiators, including many top-of-the-range models, will be sold at the auction without reserve. SBH was also an authorised distributor for Zack, a renowned German manufacturer of stainless steel kitchen and bathroom accessories, and a large stock of these items will also be included in the auction.

The company closed its design studio and factory in Winsford and entered liquidation seven weeks ago. Corporate rescue and recovery specialist Begbies Traynor, who are handling the winding up of the business, have now instructed industrial auctioneers Eddisons to sell off the entire stock.

All items have been moved from the Cheshire premises to Eddisons Auction Centre, in Scunthorpe, where they will be auctioned off in an online sale scheduled to end next Friday afternoon.

Eddisons director Paul Cooper commented on the unfortunate demise of a well-regarded company, saying: "The failure of a well regarded company operating mainly in the luxury end of the market inevitably comes as a surprise but these are difficult times for everyone, purse strings are tight, and that's having an impact. SBH is just the latest of a number of upmarket/lifestyle businesses that we've dealt with around the country this year.

"The auction extends to 658 lots and includes almost five hundred of the impressive contemporary stainless steel radiators that were imagined in the company's design studios. They were aimed at the luxury end of the market.

"Even the smallest their 'baby' model retailed at over three hundred pounds a time. The top of the range models had price tags of over a thousand.

"In addition, the auction also includes an extensive range of bathroom and kitchen accessories by exclusive brands including Zack, the German company that is one of Europe's leading designers of contemporary stainless steel accessories. Here we're in a world where a stainless steel toilet brush holder comes with a price tag of over £90 and a towel rail over a hundred."

Paul added: "For the most part, the online auction has been lotted in such a way that members of the public have just as good a chance to get involved in the bidding as trade or industry buyers. Everything is being sold without reserve so despite the jaw-dropping price tags that many of these lots usually bore, on Friday things will make what they make. There will likely be some bargains!"

The online auction is set to conclude at 1pm on Friday afternoon (June 21).
