A former Made In Chelsea star has issue a statement following the devastating news of his baby godson's tragic death.

Joshua Patterson joined the cast of the E4 reality series in 2015 and shares a child with former cast member Binky Felstead. He made the heartbreaking announcement on Instagram on Sunday (July 7).

Sharing a touching message with his 440,000 Instagram followers alongside a photo of him holding his godson Archie, Joshua wrote: "With little context thank you for your constant messages of kindness and support over the past three weeks.

"This is a tough thing to write, On the 17th June my Godson Archie tragically passed away in his sleep, he was only 3 months old. Friday was his cremation and memorial to say our final goodbyes. I was asked to read a poem alongside his other godfather, a good friend of mine at his cremation. It was one of the hardest things I have done, and will ever have to do."

He continued: "I took some time away to be home and close to his parents, who have been so unbelievable brave during this incredible dark time, and for myself to try and process what has happened. I have grown up with his parents and adore them greatly, it made my love for Archie even stronger, and the meaning behind being his godfather even more special.

"I hope he can see the impact he will have on so many lives around the world. He will be the inspiration behind so much of what I now do. The pain I feel will be converted over time into something powerful, something I hope will help others in a time of struggle. I love you Archie, I hope where ever you are it's a happy and peaceful place. One day we will be reunited, when that day comes with a big smile on our faces, we can celebrate all the things we've shared together in spirit," reports the Mirror.

Joshua was met with an outpouring of support from his followers, with one posting: "So tragic Josh, my heart goes out to you and Archie's parents and family xx." Another wrote: "So very sad. Sending love and thoughts to all those impacted by the loss." A third person added: "This is devastating I'm thinking of you all."

Best known for his stint on the E4 series Made in Chelsea since 2015, Joshua has also made headlines for his extraordinary feat of running 76 marathons in 76 days last year to support the Samaritans charity. The television star is a devoted father to his daughter India, who just turned seven last month.

On the topic of fatherhood, Josh has described it as "life-changing" recalling: "I think when I found out I was going to be a dad, it changed my life. I was 27 years old and it was so unexpected." At that time, he was still romantically involved with Binky Felstead, whom he had met on the set of Made in Chelsea.

Reflecting on the situation, he emotionally stated: "I think there was initially a huge amount of fear and uncertainty and anxiety around the situation because I just wasn't prepared for it. But I look back on it now, and it just was the greatest thing that ever happened to me". Binky Felstead welcomed their daughter India in June 2017, but unfortunately, the couple parted ways a year later.
