‘Magpie Murders’ Indie Options C.M Ewan Novel
Magpie Murders producer Eleventh Hour Films has optioned C.M. Ewan thriller The House Hunt for limited TV. Published today, The House Hunt centers on the story of an everyday young couple, Lucy and Sam, who are selling their recently renovated dream house, but one viewing turns into a nightmare and events spiral beyond their control. “Every writer dreams of finding a great partner for a TV adaptation of their work, and I knew from the first moment that Eleventh Hour Films expressed interest in The House Hunt that they were the perfect team to develop my book with all the vision and flair I could hope for,” said Ewan, who is EPing the adaptation with Paula Cuddy, Eve Gutierrez and Jill Green. No network is attached as of yet. The deal was struck by WME on behalf of the Darley Anderson Literary Agency. Eleventh Hour produced The Magpie Murders and follow-up The Moonflower Murders for the BBC/PBS Masterpiece. Its Paramount+ thriller The Killing Kind will launch next month and the indie is making a third season of Amazon Prime Video’s Alex Rider adaptation.

Art Directors Guild Sets Production Design Awards
The Art Directors Guild (IATSE Local 800) has announced the 28th Annual Excellence in Production Design Awards will take place on Feb 10, 2024. The ADG Awards honor members of the Art Directors Guild members for the creative work they do in theatrical motion pictures, television, commercials, animated features, and music videos. To be eligible for the awards, films, series, commercials, animated features, and music videos made in the U.S. or Canada must be produced under an IATSE agreement. International entries are acceptable without restrictions. “The ADG is pleased and honored to recognize the excellence of Guild members and their achievements during our annual Awards Ceremony,” said ADG President Nelson Coates, and awards producers Michael Allen Glover, and Megan Elizabeth Bell in a joint statement. “The extraordinary work of our membership deserves to be recognized and elevated. Me+You Options Rights To Story Of ‘Daisy’s Law’ Campaigner
Me+You Productions, the UK producer behind the I Am… franchise, is working up Kin (working title), a drama based on the life of a relentless UK campaigner whose battle for justice led to the establishment of ‘Daisy’s law.’ This enables children born of rape to be recognized as victims. Me+You has acquired life rights to tell the story of ‘Daisy,’ whose true identity remains protected for legal reasons, two years after her story made national headlines in the UK. Daisy’s mother was raped by a 28-year-old man when aged just 13. Daisy was put up for adoption but at 18 discovered the truth about her heritage. She spent 10 years fighting to bring the man, Carvel Bennett, to justice despite police failures and blocks by the criminal justice system and other institutions. In August 2021, Bennett was sentenced to 11 years in prison. Kin will include the latest chapter in Daisy’s life as she travels to the Caribbean to uncover her family tree.
