Major accident on Scots road as van flips in four vehicle crash

A road is closed in Fife following a major accident involving three cars and a van with emergency services still at the scene.

Pictures from the incident on the A92 at Chapel-Redhouse near Kirkcaldy show a hire van fliped by the central reservation with a white car smashed beside it.

Another red car is facing the opposite direction to the traffic and multiple emergency services are in attendance, including the Scotish Fire and Rescue Service, Scottish Ambulance Service and Police officers.

The incident happened just before 6pm. It's not currently known if there are any injuries. Those stuck up in the huge pile up of traffic say they have been stuck for for a number of hours.

A Scotish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We received a call at 17.51, five appliances attended in total. We left the incident at 7pm. There were three cars and one van involved in an accident."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report of a crash involving five vehicles on the A92 near the Redhouse Roundabout, Kirkcaldy, around 5.45pm on Monday, 22 April, 2024.

“Emergency services attended and the road was closed eastbound for recovery.

“One driver, a 39-year-old woman attended hospital as a precaution.”

The Scottish Ambulance Service have been contacted for comment.
