The major DWP, PIP and benefit changes coming in days claimants need to be aware of

Following a month filled with Bank Holidays and changes to payment days, claimants may be curious about when they can expect their benefits in June, and if there will be any alterations. The dates for benefit payments vary depending on the type of benefit one receives, and being aware of the usual payment day can assist individuals in planning their monthly budget.

From Attendance Allowance to Universal Credit, some Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) benefits are paid every four weeks, while others are paid fortnightly. As there are no Bank Holidays in June, there should be no disruptions in this regard, reports the Express.

So, when will benefits be paid in June?

The date benefits are paid is contingent on the type of benefit and when a person began claiming. Attendance Allowance, Disability Living Allowance, Pension Credit, Personal Independence Payment (PIP), and the state pension are typically paid every four weeks.

Employment and Support Allowance, Income Support, and Jobseeker's Allowance are usually deposited into accounts every two weeks.

Carer's Allowance is generally paid weekly in advance or every four weeks. Child Benefit is also typically paid every four weeks, but it can be paid weekly to single parents, or those who or their partner receive certain benefits. Tax Credits, such as Working Tax Credits and Child Tax Credits, are usually paid weekly or every four weeks.

Maternity Allowance is typically paid every two or four weeks, while Universal Credit is disbursed monthly. Beneficiaries can determine their next payment date by checking when they last received a payment.

If a payment date falls on a weekend, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) usually pays on the preceding working day. In April, benefit payment rates saw an increase of 6.7 per cent, based on the inflation rate of September 2023.

The DWP's state pension also increased in line with the triple lock pledge, resulting in recipients seeing a rise by September's average wage growth of 8.5 per cent. For a comprehensive list of DWP and HMRC payment rate increases for this year, individuals can refer to the full list here.
