Major Edinburgh road closed after multi-vehicle crash involving 'bus and three cars'

A multi-vehicle crash has led to the closure of a major city bound route during rush hour.

Police Scotland say that both carriageways have been closed following the collision that involved 'three cars and a bus' at 4.30pm on Wednesday July 3.

Edinburgh Travel News took to X to alert motorists of the closure of the A90 at Cramond Brig and to advise them to use alternative routes.

Traffic has tailbacked beyond Burnshot Bridge as emergency services respond to the ongoing incident.

One concerned local reported seeing five ambulances, two fire brigade appliances and several police cars on site.

They added that it appeared to be a crash involving a "car and a bus" and that "both lanes going into Edinburgh have been closed." with a lane

Posting on X, Edinburgh Travel News said: "A90 is closed citybound at Cramond Brig - due to multi vehicle RTC.

"Please use an alternative route."

At 5.04pm, the social media traffic page also stated: "A90 Cramond Brig

"There's been a multi vehicle RTC here heading citybound.

"Traffic slow back past Burnshot bridge, nearly at Dolphington at present."

One driver, who seems to have been stuck in traffic for 20 minutes, responded to the comment by saying: "Any idea on traffic getting through... been here 20mins and zero movement."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 4.30pm on Wednesday, 3 July, 2024, we received a report of a crash involving three vehicles and a bus on the A90 Crammond Brig, Edinburgh. Scottish Ambulance Service have been contacted.

"The southbound carriageway has been closed."
